The entire area of the Ngorongoro was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979, the crater is an almost perfectly circular arena, its diameter ranges from 16 to 23 km and the surface is about 265 square kilometers: the only descent in the crater it is already a unique esperiana! The concentration of fauna is impressive: it is estimated that it is inhabited by over 25,000 large animals, in the crater you can see most of the typical species of the savannah: elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, jackals, hippos, baboons, cheetahs, leopards, lions ... .. many lions ... The crater also houses 22 black rhinos, the last survivors of a species that in the rest of Tanzania is on the verge of extinction.
Breakfast at the lodge / tented camp and departure to return to Arusha. On the way, stop for an excursion (optional) at the village of Mto Wa Mbu for a walk of about 1 hour with a local guide, one of the few opportunities to get in touch with the real life of the small villages of Tanzania and understand how it really lives the Tanzanian population at the edge of national parks. Picnic lunch during the transfer, arrival at the airport in time for your flight.
In this itinerary there will be the possibility to insert one night, for those who wish it, for a trekking on foot in the Olmoti or Empakai crater, the two small craters that arise in the conservation area of Ngornongoro, a unique and unrepeatable experience, trekking not they are too busy, however it is necessary to be in good physical shape to face the 4-5 hours of planned walking, the walks will always be escorted by armed rangers and the lunches will be picnics
